Please mark your calendar for Amman Imman: Water is Life's 8th annual, A Walk for Water, to be held at the Locust Grove Nature Center in Cabin John Park, Bethesda Maryland on Saturday May 10, 2014.
A Walk for Water is a fundraising event that symbolizes the 35 mile trek children living in the Azawak of West Africa travel to bring water home to their families. The funds raised will benefit Amman Imman's projects to build sustainable sources of water in the Azawak and will support food security, health, sanitation, education, women's empowerment and livelihood activities.
This year we are planning a fun and interactive pre-walk festival starting at 10:30 AM aimed at educating students as global citizens for the Azawak. "Passport to the Azawak" will feature live music, hands-on activities, and cultural demonstrations. Following the festival we will walk 3 miles on the Cabin John Park trails.
Participation in A Walk for Water provides an opportunity for families to engage together in a global community service experience. The event qualifies for MCPS SSL hours and could be used as CAS hours for IB students. Registration for the event will officially open on World Water Day, March 22. Details will be available soon at this link. We hope you can join us!
